Life has moved at the speed of light since the first of the year, with the usual flood of February birthdays, school and church activities, and planning Darrin and McKenna's wedding! The wedding is 12 days away (but who's counting?) and there is much to do. The number of details is staggering, and I'm a little overwhelmed. Al dismisses my periodic episodes of near panic as frivolous, female nonsense, and encourages me by saying helpful things like, "I don't know why you get yourself all worked up" and "why don't you just tell someone else to do it?" These insightful comments immediately calm me down - NOT! Needless to say, the Miedema house is a little crazy right now.
To bring you up to speed, here are just a few of the highlights of the past 4 months:
A trip to New Orleans for a conference in late January was a welcome break from the frigid Iowa winter - it was 80 degrees!
Hannah turned 12. She's definitely not a little girl any more!
Darrin and McKenna announced their engagement to all of their friends and kicked into high gear planning their May 7, 2010 wedding.
April definitely brought showers - the bridal kind. Here are McKenna (she's the young, pretty one next to me) with her mom, Brenda, and her stepmother, Linda.
The next two weeks promise to be pretty insane. My hope is that I will be able to savor it rather than miss it all in the frenzy.
P.S. Does anyone want to finish my doors upstairs? Let's just say I'm still waiting for one of my Christmas presents....
